The Yarlung Tsangpo has its source high in western Tibet on the flanks of Mt Kailash. For over 800km the Yarlung Tsangpo meanders across the high plains of Tibet . Below Shigatse the river carves it's way through the dramatic Nyemo Gorge. Large volume rapids with huge waves make this a very exciting trip. To undertake this trip you should be able to swim and you must be fit and fairly well acclimatized. You will be expected to paddle hard in the big rapids but there are plenty of flat stretches between the rapids were you can relax and marvel at the canyon. If you are looking for a full day of dramatic scenery and whitewater action, then this is the run for you.
