This tour package is designed to cover all the historic valleys of Bhutan. You would be moving from one historic valley to another in the heartland of the Drupka people. Some of the temples in these valleys date back to the 7th century when Guru Padmasamba first introduced Buddhism in Bhutan. A stream of Buddhist lamas coming to Bhutan over the centuries established monasteries and temples in various parts of these valleys.

 

You can observe how Zhabdrung unified the country in the 1600s by constructing castle-like monastic fortress called dzongs strategically overlooking these valleys. In the next 200 years of Bhutan's history, the dzongs played a crucial role as the strongholds of local chieftains in their power struggle that engulfed Bhutan. Power passed from one local chieftain to another, but it never left these central valleys. DAY 01: KATHMANDU - PARO - THIMPHU
Fly by Druk Air flight to Paro. You will be met on arrival and after lunch proceed by car to Thimphu. Evening ends with a walk through Thimphu's main shopping district. O/N in Thimphu. (L/D)

 

DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU
Full day sightseeing of Thimphu valley: Memorial Chorten, National Library, Painting School, Traditional Medicine Institute, Tashichhodzong and Handicrafts Emporium. O/N in Thimphu. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 03: THIMPHU - PUNAKHA
Morning proceed for Punakha across Dochu La pass (3,050 m) with stunning scenery of the Himalayan ranges. Afternoon visit Punakha Dzong. O/N in Punakha. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 04: PUNAKHA - WANGDUE - TRONGSA
Early morning drive to Trongsa via Wangdue Phodrang and Pele La pass (3,300 m). Enroute visit Chendebji Chorten. O/N in Trongsa.

 

DAY 05: TRONGSA - BUMTHANG
After breakfast visit Ta-Dzong (Watch Tower) and Trongsa Dzong. Proceed to Bumthang across Yotong La pass (3,400 m). Afternoon free or explore the picturesque valley of Bumthang. O/N in Bumthang. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 06: SIGHTSEEING IN BUMTHANG
Full day sightseeing of Bumthang valley, visit Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Monastery and Tamshing Lhakhang. O/N in Bumthang. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 07: BUMTHANG - TRONGSA - GANTEY - PHOBJIKHA
After breakfast proceed to Gantey/Phobjikha via Trongsa. Evening free. O/N Gantey. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 08: GANTEY - PHOBJIKHA - WANGDUE - THIMPHU
After breakfast visit Gantey Monastery and drive to Thimphu via Wangdue Phodrang. O/N in Thimphu. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 09: THIMPHU - PARO
Morning proceed for Paro, enroute visit Simtokha Dzong. After lunch visit Kyichu Lhakhang, Ta-Dzong (National Museum), Rinpung Dzong and Paro's market. O/N in Paro. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 10: PARO
After breakfast, visit Drukgyel Dzong and take full day excursion to view the Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery. O/N in Paro. (B/L/D)

 

DAY 11: PARO - KATHMANDU
Depart from Paro, Transfer to the airport for your onward flight from Bhutan. (B)
